Everything You Need to Know
Get quick answers to common questions about Retagly's ESL solutions, pricing, installation, and support.
🏪General
We work with grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations, pharmacies, and other retail formats that need frequent price changes and clear shelf labeling.
For most stores, an ESL project takes about 30–45 days from the time we receive the down payment and finalize the scope. The exact timeline depends on store size, label count, and integration complexity.
Yes. We include training for your team as part of the implementation. We cover how to use the ESL dashboard and mobile app, how to make price/product changes, and basic troubleshooting.
Yes. We have active ESL installations in grocery and convenience environments. We can share photos and short videos or arrange a quick virtual walkthrough to show how the system works in a live store.
🔗Integration & Technology
Yes. We support integration via APIs and data feeds from your back-office or POS. Even if we don't have a ready-made connector for your specific platform, we can usually integrate through exports, APIs, or a lightweight middleware service.
Our platform and APIs are designed for real-time updates. The actual sync behavior (frequency, promotions, etc.) depends on what your POS or back-office system can provide. We finalize these details during a short technical discovery call.
We can work either way. If you have an internal IT team or a software vendor, we'll coordinate with them. If not, our team can handle the integration end-to-end, including any required middleware.
Any API or data integration costs on our side are bundled into our software & service packages. If a third-party platform (like your POS or ERP) charges its own fees, those would be separate.
🏷️Hardware & Labels
We offer 10 different sizes from 1.54" to 13.3" to fit every shelf configuration. Popular sizes include: 1.54", 2.13" (freezer-grade), 2.6", 2.9", 3.5", 3.7", 4.2", 5.83", 7.5", and 13.3" for large format digital signage. All feature 4-color high-resolution displays.
Yes. Our 2.13" freezer-grade ESL operates from -25°C to 60°C (-13°F to 140°F), specifically designed for refrigerated and frozen environments. Available in black and white display, perfect for meat, dairy, frozen foods, and alcohol coolers.
All ESL sizes feature 4-color high-resolution displays (black, white, red, yellow). Our freezer-grade 2.13" model for low-temperature environments is available in black and white.
Yes, ESLs are battery-operated. Typical battery life is around 3–5 years, depending on how often labels are updated and the environment. Battery replacement can be included as part of your maintenance plan.
🔧Installation & Setup
Yes. We provide full installation, including shelf rails and clips, label mounting, base station placement, and basic network setup for the ESL system.
Yes. We conduct a site survey before the project to measure shelves, review store layout, check network conditions, and finalize label counts. In most cases, the initial on-site survey is free.
We plan installation to minimize disruption—often during slower hours or overnight. Most stores remain open during installation, and we coordinate closely with your team.
💻Software Platform
Yes. Our ESL platform is fully cloud-based. You can access it through a secure web dashboard and a mobile app from anywhere.
The number of users and access levels (owners, managers, staff, etc.) depends on the package you choose. We support multiple user roles and permissions so you can control who can view or edit prices.
Yes. Our mobile app lets you scan items, link or relink ESLs, and make quick price or product changes directly from the sales floor.
🛠️Support, Warranty & Maintenance
We include a manufacturer defect warranty on ESLs and network equipment. Extended warranty options can be added depending on the service package and contract term.
Yes. We offer support and maintenance plans that can include: • Remote support (email, messaging apps, and phone as needed) • Scheduled or on-demand on-site visits • Battery replacements • Troubleshooting for hardware and connectivity issues The exact coverage depends on the package you select.
Depending on your plan, certain hardware repairs or replacements may be included each year, with additional incidents billed at a standard service rate. We'll outline all details in your proposal.
💰Pricing & Contracts
Pricing is typically split into: • One-time hardware costs (ESLs, base stations, mounting hardware) • Recurring software & service fees (cloud platform, integration, support, maintenance) We'll provide a clear breakdown in your custom quote.
Yes. Our ESL platform is offered as a subscription that covers software, cloud hosting, updates, and ongoing services. We offer both monthly and annual billing options in most cases.
We typically work with a multi-year agreement to support the upfront hardware investment and long-term service relationship. Specific terms are discussed during the proposal stage.
Because every store is different (label counts, layout, systems, service level), we don't publish a universal price list. After a store survey and finalizing your integration and label quantities, we'll send a custom quote with line-item pricing for hardware, software, installation, and support.
🚀Getting Started
The usual steps are: 1. Intro call – Review your store type, systems, and goals. 2. Site survey – Measure shelves, confirm label counts, and check network coverage. 3.
